The scene: an elegant and luxurious hotel...
The Director of a multi-national Cola company is addressing 100
of his senior people at a breakfast meeting...
Suddenly from behind a curtain a masked figure, be-wigged and
attired in a silk dressing gown points a gun at point-blank range at the Director...
Three loud shots ring out.
The startled group gasp as the boss collapses over his croissants
at the top table. The curtains at the French windows swish closed and suddenly the masked villain vanishes.
There is silence for a second or two until Sherlock Holmes
appears on the scene to investigate.
Laughter breaks out. "They've shot the boss. Thank god he's gone!" The corpse raises its head "I'll see you on Monday
morning, in my office." More laughter as everyone realises this is a "Happening": A "Who Dunnit Mystery Weekend" where all the
senior directors are potential suspects in a dastardly make-believe attack.
For the rest of the morning the group breaks into smaller teams
to work out who the murderer was, interviewing hotel staff and collecting the clues of a cleverly constructed and carefully designed theatrical plot. At lunchtime the teams make their
presentations to the gathered company, giving the reasons for their conclusions and in the afternoon they return to their syndicate groups to review how they collected and shared
information and analysed the data. They relate this to their own organisational issues and come up with an action plan to generate solutions to their real Corporate problems.
Feedback from participants is extremely positive:
"Marvellous experience... an exciting beginning..."
"A highly relevant and cost effective form of training and team
building..."
"A great combination of fun and practical team building processes
where everyone got to know each other."
